Artist spotlight: Carlita, the performing name of Carla Frayman, is a Turkish-Italian DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Her path to club music began with a much broader musical education than the typical beginner’s production software. She studied and played instruments including cello and piano, and her wider musical background extends to bass, drums and guitar. Those skills shaped an ear for harmony and texture before the larger festival audiences arrived. Her productions bring together house rhythms, warm melodies and influences that reflect her upbringing and international musical interests. She has spoken about the Turkish psychedelia, rock and electronic records that inform her taste. For a DJ, a background in acoustic performance need not disappear when a new set of tools enters the studio: it can become a distinct advantage when arranging music. Carlita’s profile grew through DJ sets at venues and events such as Printworks, Circoloco, Tomorrowland and Burning Man. The crowds were different, but her approach made room for disco, house, melodic music and surprising transitions. Her Senza Fine party concept also connected performance with fashion and art, suggesting that a night of electronic music can be designed as a wider cultural experience. The same curiosity informed a collaboration with DJ Tennis, a mentor and frequent creative partner. Instead of treating a DJ performance as disconnected from the rest of her work, Carlita developed a recognizable world of sound and presentation. That combination helps explain why her audience follows not only individual tracks but also her events and larger artistic projects. On April 2, 2024, Counter Records released Time, a track Carlita had been using to close DJ sets. Its reception helped introduce her to Ninja Tune’s wider audience. The label described the single as a preview of a more substantial songwriting project and emphasized the unusual blend of classical and contemporary electronic influences within her production. Her debut album Sentimental followed on November 15, 2024. The twelve-track record brought together guests including SG Lewis, DJ Tennis, Elderbrook and others. Tracks such as The Moment, Planet Blue and Wish You Knew showed different aspects of her melodic and rhythmic range. The Moment revisited music she had first worked on years earlier, turning part of her musical history into a new collaboration. In the album announcement, Carlita explained that she wanted listeners to hear a different side of her work from the club records they knew. That distinction matters in an electronic-music environment where short clips from high-energy performances often dominate the public impression of an artist. A long-form album allows quieter ideas, unusual instruments and changing moods to sit alongside tracks intended for dancers. Sentimental also provides an example for young producers: musical background is not something to hide because the current club fashion favors a particular sound. The experiences behind the recording can become the strongest part of an artist’s identity. Carlita’s development from instrumental performance to international DJing and album-making is not a rejection of her early training but a continuation of it.

READ ARTIST PROFILE →Chloé Caillet did not start her career behind a DJ booth alone. The producer, DJ and label founder played in bands, worked in the music business and absorbed club scenes in New York, Paris and London before building a signature house sound. Her SMIILE label and party series launched in 2023, and her catalog includes the CircoLoco release Intro and collaborations with artists such as Luke Alessi. In 2026 she released “Dance Again.” The Friday February 19, 2027 Palm Tree Aspen lineup names Caillet alongside The Chainsmokers, The Martinez Brothers, Disco Lines and Frank Walker.

Dutch house producer Jamback built early traction the way dance records have traveled for decades: through other DJs playing them. Releases on Whippin and Airtime caught the attention of selectors including Chris Stussy, Archie Hamilton and Toman, followed by the Roaring 20's EP on PIV. His Coin Drop EP pushed further into the minimal and deep-house circuit. That sequence matters. For an emerging producer, a respected DJ's support is useful, but repeat releases that work across different rooms are what make the reputation durable. Jamback's music focuses on tight, energetic grooves rather than trying to overwhelm a set with effects.

READ ARTIST PROFILE →PAWSA belongs to a school of house production that trusts a carefully chosen groove. The London-based DJ and producer often builds tracks around purposeful basslines, tight drums and samples that need only a small shift to change the energy of a room. What sounds minimal through headphones can become enormous when a club sound system gives the low frequencies space. That economy is not an absence of ideas. It requires knowing which elements carry the track and which can be removed without losing its character. PAWSA’s work helped make the stripped-back tech-house sound both familiar to underground dancers and legible to larger international audiences. His early releases include the four-track Pilot EP, issued by Lost Records in 2014. The EP attracted support in DJ circles and was followed by material on labels such as Relief and Mood. Those initial releases matter because they put finished records into circulation before the party brand that would later be associated with his name reached a much larger audience. In 2015, PAWSA and Michael Bibi co-founded Solid Grooves Records. The project developed alongside the Solid Grooves party series, beginning in London and growing into international nights and a recognizable platform for DJs and producers. It created a place for a particular approach to house music without making every artist sound identical. PAWSA also established his PAWZ imprint, giving himself another outlet for music beyond Solid Grooves. His catalog includes tracks such as Pick Up The Phone, Too Cool To Be Careless and Collect The Commas from 2024, followed by Bang Bang with Malachiii in 2025. The releases demonstrate an approach that often transforms familiar musical fragments into tough, playable house arrangements. Solid Grooves passed a major milestone in May 2025 with its 100th release, Summer Sampler 2025, featuring PAWSA, Michael Bibi and several other artists associated with the label. The anniversary made visible the results of a decade of consistently releasing and presenting music. By 2026, the label was still issuing compilations built around its expanding roster. A 2026 NYLON interview emphasized the role of Solid Grooves as a home for artist development, not just a name placed on party posters. PAWSA discussed how a coherent label identity depends on curation and consistency. That distinction separates a long-running community from a string of unrelated one-off releases. For DJs beginning with a bedroom mixer, his history offers two practical ideas. First, the strongest track need not be the busiest. Second, musical taste grows more valuable when it helps other people find opportunities, whether through a label, a residency or a local night. The PAWSA story sits where an individual production style meets the business of building a scene.

Seth Troxler was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and raised near Detroit. His stepfather, a college-radio DJ, introduced him to records and mixing. By the age of sixteen he was working in the Detroit shop Melodies & Memories, surrounded by music and other people who cared deeply about selection. It was an education that could not be reduced to learning the mechanics of a mixer. A record store teaches a developing DJ to listen beyond a current chart. Different scenes overlap in the racks, and the customers bring their own stories about what works. Troxler’s later performances became known for a roaming, sometimes unpredictable approach to house and techno. The willingness to follow an unusual record into a new mood begins to make sense when seen against that early environment. Troxler appeared at Panorama Bar while still in his teens and moved to Berlin in the mid-2000s. The city’s underground scene provided an international meeting place for artists whose sounds grew from Detroit house and techno but were not limited to those histories. He built an increasingly visible career through sets at clubs such as fabric, Panorama Bar and CircoLoco and major festivals including Movement and Glastonbury. The story did not end with a move from local recognition to bigger bookings. His music remained connected to independent records, collaborative studio sessions and parties where a DJ might spend hours developing a room’s energy. That is a different skill from playing a short greatest-hits festival slot, and it has stayed central to his reputation. Troxler’s involvement in independent labels reveals another side of his work. His projects include Visionquest and Tuskegee, the latter associated with his collaboration with the Martinez Brothers and a commitment to widening representation in dance music. He later launched Slacker 85, while continuing to remix and record for a range of electronic labels. His official music archive lists collaborations from different periods, from Space & Time with the Martinez Brothers in 2014 to the 2023 Sex & The City project with HoneyLuv and Paul Johnson. Later remixes and collaborative records show the same curiosity across styles. These releases matter because they connect a widely touring DJ back to the record-making community that makes an underground scene possible. With Phil Moffa, Troxler developed Lost Souls of Saturn, a project that reaches into experimental electronics, visual installations and technology. Their work has appeared in art settings including the Saatchi Gallery, and the 2024 project Reality was accompanied by an augmented-reality comic experience. The official artist biography also documents activities far beyond DJing, including restaurant work, exhibitions and public conversations about culture. That breadth does not mean the dance floor is unimportant. It demonstrates that a musician can bring experience from other parts of life back into the music. For a young DJ, Troxler’s example suggests that a personal sound may grow from record collecting, conversations, independent ventures and creative risks rather than from following a single genre’s expectations.
