THE DJ HANGOUT / ARTIST PROFILE

Yazzus

Yazzus arrived in Berlin carrying a musical history that wasn't neatly confined to one city's techno rulebook. Born in Ghana and raised in London, the DJ and producer channels early rave, fast techno, electro and heavyweight club rhythms into high-energy sets. Her work became linked to the queer party collective Mala Junta, while releases including the Black Metropolis EP on Tresor gave listeners another way into the sound. Her career connects two important histories: the British rave cultures that helped form her taste, and the Berlin club ecosystem that expanded the audience. It's a reminder that faster records don't have to mean shallower musical ideas.
