THE DJ HANGOUT / ARTIST PROFILE

Shimza

Shimza's career began close to home, and he never entirely left that responsibility behind. Born in Tembisa, the South African DJ developed his craft as a teenager before building a reputation in Afro house and Afro-tech. His One Man Show event, launched in 2009, combined a large-scale music experience with fundraising and support for local schoolchildren. Releases and international bookings followed, including work with Soulistic Music and performances in Ibiza and major European cities. The event brand matters as much as the DJ résumé: it shows how a promoter can turn the attention around a successful artist back toward the community.
