CHAPTER 01
The artist and musical direction
Shanghai Doom is an experimental bass duo from central New Jersey whose official artist biography traces the project to 2017. The recordings are associated with darker tonal material, forceful low-end movement and detailed percussion. The duo structure is an important identity detail and should not be replaced by an assumed solo producer name.
CHAPTER 02
Key releases and connections
Their releases have appeared through WAKAAN, Cyclops Recordings, Deadbeats, Bassrush, Gravitas and Wormhole. The Gravitas release catalog also connects them with Esseks through Soul Stone and with the Recurring Dreams remix series. These releases provide concrete listening references across label communities.
CHAPTER 03
Listening and live context
Support from producers including Liquid Stranger, Excision, Zeds Dead and LSDREAM is listed in their label biography, but that recognition should not become a fictional chart ranking. The stronger story is how an independent duo built a distinct sound, then moved between established platforms that share an interest in adventurous bass production.
