CHAPTER 01
A scene built by people who do more than play
The easiest way to tell a nightlife story is to talk about who headlined. The harder story is about the people who make sure a room exists for the next generation of DJs. Dave Hahn performs as Panderer in San Francisco, and he also helps with management at Public Works. Those two positions give him a view of a scene from inside the booth and behind its doors.
In June 2026 reporting by Jess Oledan for 48 Hills, Hahn described local artists creating parties themselves when established clubs offered too few chances to grow. That is an observation from a working participant, not a claim that every venue makes its decisions in the same way.
CHAPTER 02
What it takes to get onto the bill
A promoter has to consider the room, its costs and whether enough people will attend. A DJ has to practice, build trust and find a chance to test the music with an audience. Hahn told 48 Hills that rising ticket prices and venue minimums make it harder for locally organized nights to reach midsize and large clubs.
His perspective supplies an important counterweight to the idea that a follower count can tell a booker everything about an artist. Someone who can help build a party has value that a single online metric will not fully describe.
CHAPTER 03
A documented night at Public Works
The June 5, 2026 program audio x QUEEN OUT listing at Public Works places Panderer alongside Archangel, twogirls1mixer, Jacuhleen, girlsondeck.sf, DJ Caro, discnogirl and agropol on a local house-and-techno lineup. It documents an actual billed performance rather than a speculative residency.
That event illustrates the practical answer local crews sometimes find: put together their own nights and create a platform where different selectors can play. It does not establish a complete chronology of Hahn’s earlier performances.
CHAPTER 04
Why the story matters
Hahn’s 2026 interview describes a tension that will be familiar well beyond San Francisco: larger rooms need reliable attendance while local DJs need meaningful stages in order to earn it. Both pressures are real.
The next reporting step is to verify recorded sets, additional dated performances, career beginnings and musical influences. Until then, the strongest part of this story is documented: a working DJ who also helps maintain the space where music happens.
THE REPORTING BEHIND THE STORY
Verified releases, artist accounts, interviews and dated event records. Artist-reported history is identified in the article when older accounts disagree.
- 48 Hills — Jess Oledan, local DJs and nightclub bookings (June 4, 2026) ↗Reported interviews and direct attribution, not an independently complete artist discography
- Public Works SF — program audio x QUEEN OUT, June 5, 2026 ↗Dated lineup explicitly includes Panderer
- Resident Advisor — DJ Panderer artist profile and dated San Francisco bookings ↗Confirms artist name Dave Hahn, San Francisco booking history and performance at Public Works; separate organization from 48 Hills.
Until an authentic image is approved for republication, this profile uses original name artwork rather than a fabricated artist portrait.
