CHAPTER 01
A music education shaped by the room
Mport, born Marc Mount, grew up in Colorado with music at home and later studied recording arts and music technology at the University of Colorado Denver. In interviews he has described early time at a family piano and the fascination of discovering how musical elements fit together. That curiosity carried forward into formal study and electronic production.
His entry into the Denver nightlife world included operating sound, lights and backline at Beta Nightclub. Working behind the scenes offered a view many aspiring DJs never get: how a large room responds to sound, how a show is constructed, and how performers and technicians depend on one another. It is a background that later informed his own approach to live production.
CHAPTER 02
Finding the humor inside a bassline
The project has become known for dense bass sounds paired with deliberately funny or nostalgic samples. Level 9, released in 2022, became an early recognizable recording; its widely discussed festival-goer sample showed how Mport could use absurdity as part of a track without treating the actual music as disposable.
Scene Selection, issued in August 2024, pushed that concept further by drawing on movie and popular-culture references in a collection of bass tracks. A 2024 interview with 303 Magazine explored the sound of the EP and the artist’s creative habits. More Wonkier followed in 2025, while the 2026 catalog includes titles such as Turtle Club and Lollipop Guild.
CHAPTER 03
Building a place in the Colorado scene
Mport has described balancing creative independence with the pressure of growing visibility. In a 2026 episode of Beyond The Bass he discussed the development of his project, creative comparisons and a wish to build experiences with collaborators and audiences rather than chase a stage for its size alone. That attitude brings the career story back to a recognizable human scale.
The DJ Hangout is prioritizing Denver and smaller-market bass listings, but this profile does not infer specific upcoming Mport event dates from old articles. The goal is to make the artist discoverable through an accurate biography now, then connect real event listings as their venue, artist billing and ticket sources are verified. It is the same discipline that helps keep an event directory trustworthy as it grows.
