THE DJ HANGOUT / ARTIST PROFILE

Mary Yuzovskaya

Some DJs carry a USB stick. Mary Yuzovskaya built her reputation carrying records. The vinyl-only selector refined her hypnotic techno in Berlin, then moved to New York in 2013, where a three-year residency at Unter helped turn patient, precise sets into an identifiable sound. Her time working at Brooklyn record shop Halcyon also fed a second career: founding Monday Off in 2017, a label focused on deep, psychedelic techno. She returned to Berlin in 2020, but the New York years are written into her musical story. The interesting part isn't the format—it's the discipline of building tension one record at a time.
