THE DJ HANGOUT / ARTIST PROFILE

Kikelomo

Kikelomo's route into DJing began with radio, not a residency offer. London-born and rooted in a Nigerian family, she moved to Berlin, discovered the city's community-radio ecosystem and learned to DJ so she could tell better musical stories on air. The skill soon became the career. Her sets move across UK funky, jungle, house, bass and surprising cross-cultural connections without becoming a random playlist. Alongside international performances, she helped create Oroko Radio, an Accra-focused platform amplifying African and diasporic music; the station announced a broadcast hiatus in 2026. She has also worked with No Shade's DJ mentoring community. What makes this an important Berlin story is the link between playing music and building access to it. A scene needs both people in the booth and people opening the door.
