JSTJR

CHAPTER 01

The artist and the sound

JSTJR is a U.S. electronic producer and DJ whose current live approach draws on Los Angeles warehouse-rave energy. His official biography calls the project an effort to make techno fun and accessible, mixing rave-influenced sounds with a broad range of dance-music rhythms.

Long before his more recent techno work, he built a career in electronic music through production and performance in several styles. His official artist history notes the early Major Lazer collaboration Light It Up and subsequent releases associated with Mad Decent, Dim Mak, Spinnin’, Fool’s Gold, Confession and other prominent dance labels.

The range of those credits is important: they show an artist learning from multiple club traditions rather than beginning with one narrow techno formula. That experience helps explain the flexibility of his high-energy sets, which can move between recognizable structures and less expected transitions.

CHAPTER 02

Recordings and the wider scene

JSTJR’s Los Angeles history also includes underground warehouse parties. He now runs the Group Chat record label and monthly party concept, creating a connection between touring performances, emerging producers and a local audience.

A residency or monthly series can make an electronic scene more than the sum of a few big headliners. It creates opportunities for talent development, recurring attendance and a recognizable sense of musical identity. Group Chat plays that role in JSTJR’s wider project, allowing new material and performers to reach an audience.

CHAPTER 03

What listeners and DJs can learn

His 2026 Techno Playground touring shows how a local artistic concept can translate to rooms elsewhere. The DJ Hangout is tracking a November Salt Lake City performance in its event research, but the date remains a separate ticket-verification task until published as an in-house event listing.

JSTJR is a useful example for bedroom DJs looking to find their own lane. A successful act is not necessarily defined by one release or social clip. It can be built from a musical viewpoint, a recurring community event and enough experience behind the decks to respond to a room without losing the project’s identity.
