Ekorce

CHAPTER 01

Origins and the artist’s sound

Ekorce is the psychedelic downtempo project of French musician Kyrian Nicolay-Kritter. His musical background began with piano and drums, followed by early electronic experiments and university studies in neuroscience. The artist launched Ekorce in 2015 and developed the sound alongside his academic work.

Imago appeared through the Shanti Planti collective in 2020, while Latibule followed in early 2022. Other work includes recordings connected to Merkaba Music, and the Gravitas catalog features True Colors and the more recent Chiaroscuro. Organic textures and unusual rhythms connect those releases despite changes in their arrangements.

CHAPTER 02

Recordings and development

The recordings to explore include Imago; Latibule; Chiaroscuro. These titles are grounded in the artist’s label history and are starting points for listening rather than claims about a current chart position.

The artist’s professional biography identifies the completion of a neuroscience doctorate in early 2021. This background is relevant context but should not be used to suggest unproven scientific effects of the music. What listeners can hear directly is the attention paid to structure, space and movement between dense and calm material.

CHAPTER 03

Why the project matters

Ekorce is a particularly good discovery for DJs interested in how psychedelic sound design can create momentum at slower tempos. His catalog offers a path through several independent communities in France and beyond, with source-verified releases more useful than guesses about a current residence or touring schedule.
