THE DJ HANGOUT / ARTIST PROFILE

DJ JNETT

Long before a DJ's reputation could be built through a thirty-second clip, Melbourne had Janette Pitruzzello behind the decks. Performing as DJ JNETT since the early 1990s, she became a fixture of the city's clubs, record shops and music media. Her work at Central Station Records, appearances on the Australian television show Recovery and a PBS radio program helped introduce listeners to house and beyond. Her sets move between deep house, funk, disco and other dance-floor traditions. JNETT shows how a hometown DJ becomes part of a city's musical memory: not through one weekend, but through years of showing up.
