CHAPTER 01
A quieter kind of intensity
Dillard is the electronic project of Colorado producer Dillon Ray Gabehart. Rather than rely on constant festival-style impact, his recordings often build around warm bass movement, textured percussion and a slightly worn, almost vinyl-like atmosphere. The effect can feel unusually intimate for music made largely from computers and synthesizers, but it is also detailed enough to fill a strong club sound system.
Gravitas Recordings identifies his work with Colorado’s independent bass scene and traces his interest in producing the sound back to about 2006. This is an important context for the project: the style developed over a long period of experimentation, not from a single newly popular electronic genre. Those years explain the subtlety with which relatively simple patterns acquire new layers.
CHAPTER 02
The discography is the evidence
Dillard’s 2023 album Garden Mother was released April 14 through Gravitas. The Bandcamp credits identify Gabehart for composition, songwriting and mixing, with Bob Macciochi credited for mastering. Across tracks including Cubic Nest, Botany Agent, Flight Plan and Technicolor, the album moves between relaxed melodic passages and heavier low-end sections while retaining a cohesive sound.
The artist’s own catalog includes the earlier Afterlife and Author albums, the In June EP and later recordings such as Timerunner LP, Falling Moon and Spicy Camel with SamOurEye. Those titles offer an accessible chronological route through the work without making assumptions about unpublished projects or an unverified upcoming touring schedule. The discography also demonstrates a consistent relationship between meticulous arrangement and broader musical atmosphere.
CHAPTER 03
Why Dillard matters to other DJs
A downtempo set can be challenging to program when the room expects perpetual acceleration. Dillard’s records show another possibility: use groove, silence, warm harmonic details and rhythmic surprise to sustain attention. The bass can feel big because the rest of the arrangement leaves it space. That gives another DJ tools for transitions and for guiding the energy of a room without a sharp jump in tempo.
The DJ Hangout is cataloging his officially released recordings and Colorado connection, with specific event listings treated as separate research. When no confirmed event is available, the site should not invent a ticket link. Equally, an authentic artist photograph should appear only once its identity and reuse rights have been established. For now, the recording history is what makes this profile valuable.
