Craze

Here's a number worth remembering: three consecutive DMC World DJ Championships. Craze won in 1998, 1999 and 2000, establishing himself as one of turntablism's most formidable competitors. Born in Nicaragua and raised in Miami, Aristh Delgado went on to translate that technical precision into the worlds of drum and bass, bass music and club DJing. His FabricLive.38 mix put scratch skills to work in a dance-music context rather than keeping them in a competition routine. He has also helped shape the music business through Slow Roast Records. The takeaway for working DJs isn't that everybody needs to enter a scratch contest. It's that real technical fluency opens more musical doors than a stack of effects presets.
