Contra Scandal

CHAPTER 01

Origins and the artist’s sound

Contra Scandal is the project of musician and producer Ezra Arenson. He began studying violin as a child and later played heavy-metal guitar, experiences that gave him different ways to think about tone, timing and dramatic intensity before he became deeply involved in electronic dance music.

His artist biography points to San Francisco’s Lovevolution rave in 2009 as an influential experience. The early inspiration of producers such as Caspa, Rusko, Liquid Stranger and Nero pushed him toward his own bass compositions, eventually combining electronic programming with an onstage violin and vocals.

CHAPTER 02

Recordings and development

The recordings to explore include Full Circle. These titles are grounded in the artist’s label history and are starting points for listening rather than claims about a current chart position.

The label catalog includes Full Circle, a release that connects the project with the same independent scene represented by several Gravitas artists. The recording side and the live arrangements should be considered together: bowed strings offer a different character from an automated synthesizer line.

CHAPTER 03

Why the project matters

This career is particularly relevant to DJs who are also instrumentalists. Rather than treating a violin as a novelty, Contra Scandal’s work suggests ways a second skill can change the arrangement and visual energy of a performance. The directory should document that creative path without guessing upcoming show dates.
